So with this focus, it should not surprise you that we seek out friends and colleagues such as Dr. Rachel Winston<\/strong>, a math-teacher with a passion to see high school students get into whatever college most fires their imagination.\u00a0 Rachel believes that education should ignite the brain’s excitement for learning.\u00a0 Her passion for students, though, is very practical as anyone could observe by visiting her in the classroom.\u00a0 I hope every student can discover the passion for learning Rachel has found.<\/p>\n

About Rachel
<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\"brainpower3\"<\/a>Dr. Winston has counseled Southern Cal and international students (mainly from China, Korea, Mexico, and the Middle East) for 32 years and is a trusted expert in global college admissions counseling. She has trained counselors nationwide through the UCLA College Counselor Certificate Program. In-person and live-online, her students are accepted to the top\/best fit colleges – applications, essays, athletic\/artistic videos, interview prep, website\/portfolio development.<\/p>\n

Dr. Winston earned her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and has numerous undergrad and graduate degrees mostly in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) subjects. She attended Harvard undergrad and grad school, as well as USC, UCLA, UCI, Claremont, Syracuse, Pepperdine, the University of Maryland, Gallaudet, CSUF, and Chapman She start college at thirteen and won the National High School Senior of the Year from the American Legion and the 2012 McFarland Literary Achievement Award.<\/p>\n

“If anyone wanted help with math, I was there to help them with math.\u00a0 It’s different than helping someone with science or language because math literally stops your progression of possibility in your life because you believe that there is no future for you in any of those fields [sciences, business, engineering, other tech degrees, etc.]… You should always leave all your options open, and it shouldn’t be because your crippled [in math] or someone humiliated you or you were made to feel “less than” or insufficient.\u00a0 So I’ve always been fascinated with helping people see the big ideas in math and being able to be technically proficient.”<\/em> —Rachel Winston<\/strong><\/p>\n
