“If you want to build a ship, don\u2019t drum up the men to gather the wood or divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I couldn’t agree more.\u00a0 There is a deep drive inside of us to face the unknown and to find the courage to explore it.\u00a0 Yet for too long we have tried to tame this desire and keep the fires of passion quietly smoldering in a corner, but here at Table Top Inventing we fan the flames until the fires of curiosity begin to light children from the inside.\u00a0 A deep and burning curiosity will drive a student to explore the unknown and to carve a space for themselves in this frontier.<\/p>\n

The fires of curiosity and the “yearning for the vast and endless sea” drive everything we do here at Table Top Inventing.\u00a0 The fires burn particularly brightly in our Inventor’s Bootcamps every summer.\u00a0 I’m always excited to see the new ideas and creative machines the kids build, and we always have one or two students that walk in the door as an average child and leave with their curiosity brightly burning!<\/p>\n

Today we get to take a peek into the mind and heart of a true “lead learner” from an elementary school in Albuquerque, NM.\u00a0 Many administrators claim the title of “Lead Learner” but few take it to the heights Alma Ripley<\/strong> has.<\/p>\n

<\/a>About\u00a0Alma<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\"IMG_7071\"<\/a>Alma Ripley, Founder of the STEM Trajectory Initiative<\/a>, presently serves as Assistant Principal at Carlos Rey Elementary School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her professional career spans over 30 years in the educational arena. Throughout her career, she has built a
reputation of having the vision to align lessons to cross multiple subjects and grade levels (K-12). The length and breadth of her career has placed her into an ideal role where she leads teachers to make adjustments to their paradigm and find new ways for them to increase
the academic rigor of their lessons, by using Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) experiences and applying Project Based Learning to their curricula.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Ripley received her undergraduate degree from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, and her Masters degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of North Texas in Denton.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Ripley sees her most important role as an \u201cInstructional Mentor\u201d, impacting the professional growth of teachers and students alike. Her experiences encompass public and private education in Texas and New Mexico. She has served as a Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, Consultant, and Professional Development Trainer. Using Continuous
Improvement models, she has assisted schools to achieve and maintain accreditation, and improve their standing in the district.\u00a0<\/p>\n
